Make a real impact through transformation
We are recruiting an experienced Internal Communications Manager for a global defence engineering organisation based in Whiteley, which is currently undergoing a significant period of transformation.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious internal communications professional to play a key role in helping an organisation and its people navigate meaningful change.
You’ll work closely with senior leaders, transformation teams and stakeholders across the business to ensure employees understand what is changing, why it is changing and what it means for them.
This is a role where communications will genuinely have an impact.
The opportunity
As Internal Communications Manager, you’ll take ownership of communications supporting major transformation initiatives across the organisation.
You’ll need to be comfortable operating at both a strategic and hands-on level — able to advise senior stakeholders on the right communications approach while also creating and delivering the communications yourself.
Your responsibilities will include:
Developing and delivering internal communications strategies and plans to support business transformation.
Working closely with senior leaders and transformation teams to understand communications requirements.
Translating complex business, organisational and technical information into clear and engaging communications.
Developing compelling messaging around organisational change.
Supporting senior leaders with key messages, briefings, presentations, FAQs and talking points.
Delivering communications across channels including email, intranet, town halls, newsletters, presentations and other employee engagement platforms.
Coordinating communications across multiple transformation workstreams.
Identifying and managing communications risks associated with change and uncertainty.
Working collaboratively with HR, People, Transformation and Leadership teams.
Creating opportunities for two-way communication and employee feedback.
Measuring communications effectiveness and using insight to continually improve engagement.
About you
You’ll be an experienced internal communications professional with a proven track record of supporting organisations through change and transformation.
We’re looking for someone who can combine excellent communication skills with strong stakeholder management and commercial awareness.
You’ll ideally have:
Experience working in internal communications within a complex organisation.
Strong experience in change, transformation or organisational communications.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Experience developing communications strategies, plans and campaigns.
Confidence working with and influencing senior stakeholders.
The ability to simplify complex information and communicate it effectively to different audiences.
Strong project management and organisational skills.
Experience working across multiple communication channels.
A pragmatic, collaborative and proactive approach.
The confidence to challenge and advise stakeholders where appropriate.
Experience within defence, engineering, aerospace, technology, manufacturing or another highly regulated/technical environment would be advantageous, but isn’t essential.
What will make you successful?
We’re looking for someone who is more than a great writer.
You’ll be someone who understands how organisations work, can anticipate how change will land with employees and knows how to use communications to bring people with the organisation on its transformation journey.
You’ll be comfortable with ambiguity, able to build relationships quickly and confident enough to work with senior stakeholders while remaining hands-on.
