Location: Basingstoke (preferred) / West Bromwich and other UK depot locations considered
Salary: £50,000 – £55,000 per annum + £710 per month car allowance + 10% bonus
Working pattern: Hybrid – 3 days office / 2 days home, Monday to Friday

We are working with a leading UK-wide organisation to recruit an HR Business Lead – Employee Relations. This is a specialist role providing expert, commercially focused advice across a broad range of employee relations matters.
 
You will act as a trusted advisor to HR colleagues, managers and business leaders, helping to ensure employee relations matters are managed consistently, pragmatically and in line with employment legislation and best practice.
 
The Role
As HR Business Lead – Employee Relations, you will:
  • Manage a high volume of complex Employee Relations cases, including investigations, disciplinaries, grievances and absence/capability matters.
  • Partner closely with regional HR teams, HR Centres of Excellence and business leaders.
  • Coach and support managers in applying company policies and employment law effectively.
  • Provide pragmatic, commercially focused advice and clearly articulate potential risk.
  • Act as a custodian of Employee Relations processes, ensuring policies, documentation and outcomes are legally compliant.
  • Identify key ER themes and trends to help shape policy, processes and manager training.
  • Manage and support Data Subject Access Requests (DSARs).
  • Ensure accurate tracking and reporting of Employee Relations and absence cases.
  • Use ER data to identify trends, root causes and opportunities for preventative action.
  • Drive greater consistency and standardisation across Employee Relations practices throughout the UK & Ireland.
  • Support projects and wider HR initiatives where required.

 

About You
We’re looking for an experienced Employee Relations specialist who is confident operating in a high-volume, complex environment.
You’ll ideally have:
  • Demonstrable experience managing complex, high-volume Employee Relations casework.
  • Strong knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice.
  • Excellent judgement and the ability to assess and articulate risk.
  • Experience coaching and influencing managers and senior stakeholders.
  • Strong leadership and project management capability.
  • The resilience to manage multiple complex matters simultaneously.
  • A pragmatic approach and the confidence to operate effectively in situations where there isn’t always a straightforward answer.
  • Experience working with governing bodies or external stakeholders.
  • Strong communication, influencing and relationship-building skills.
  • A legal background or relevant legal education would be advantageous.
